Many colleges and universities have opened UAV majors, or some graduates majoring in old aircraft design can't get started in UAV research and development soon? Regarding the UAV specialty, Castle has always felt that it is a strange existence, at least in a large scale in China at present (there are many uncertainties in the future). In foreign countries, for example, ERAU, as an old-fashioned aerospace private university, has a UAV-related major: Unmanned & Autonomous Systems Engineering, which has been established for a long time, but it also exists as a postgraduate major. In recent years, many schools in China have set up UAV-related majors, which is definitely a good thing and an recognition of the industry. However, this kind of specialty is generally set up for a very short time, and it is often short of teachers, teaching experience, employment feedback, etc., and its emphasis and knowledge system are often not focused on research and development. However, the courses included in the old aircraft design major are often aimed at large aircraft (large fixed wings, manned helicopters, etc.), which are different from those of medium, small and micro UAVs in terms of size, material, control mode, actuator type and sensor type. Therefore, at present, the contradiction between the rapid development of UAV industry and the lack of relevant technical talents cannot be effectively solved through the existing education system.

The immaturity of UAV in personnel training and scale will affect all levels of related enterprises. I remember a year ago, a technical team found the castle for consultation. The contact person is a computer doctor who graduated from Stanford University. He returned to China to start a business and felt that the drone industry was very promising, so he wanted to develop independent drone products. I asked them if there were any engineers with "UAV R&D experience" in the team. They replied, no, but there is one person who can assemble open source flight control and express their willingness to recruit people as soon as possible. After hearing this, my advice to them is not to consider the development of drone products. If you are really interested in the UAV or robot industry, you may wish to choose a specific application scenario development algorithm or software solution based on the sdk of mature products. Later, they switched to blockchain, and we have no further business contact. It is no wonder that friends who are engaged in personnel work in the field of drones or science and technology, whether they are headhunters or HR of related companies, have a clear consensus: in the field of drones, people are hard to find, people are hard to recruit, people are hard to use, and people are hard to stay.
